It was always a dream of mine to become an artist. So, in my late 30s, I left Sydney and moved to the Northern Rivers Of NSW. While living there, I completed my Visual Arts Degree at Southern Cross University. This time, I was living in the rainforest, and this reinvigorated my love of nature and the landscape. Abstract Expression is a form of art I’m drawn to, and I love to work my paintings in this style focusing on colour, shape, scale and form.
Manipulation, abstraction, reproducing, scratching, erasing, intuition, and responses and playing with these in my painting process trigger memories of myself as a young boy playing in the bush here in the Wollondilly Shire. My landscape-based works are not intended to be seen as a springboard for intellectual metaphors but are rather an expression of one man’s connection to his place, his nature, and his home here in the Wollondilly Shire.
